The volunteer assignment promises to be a transformational experience for the Youth Advocates as they undergo a customized learning plan starting with an induction workshop, followed by e-learning courses, coaching sessions, mentoring and, finally, a career transition workshop at the end of the assignment. The programme is part of UNICEF's ongoing efforts to support young people and children as agents of change through participation and engagement.

UN Youth Volunteer positions are wide ranging; you may work in human rights, climate change adaptation, primary health care, disaster management, peacebuilding, youth engagement or many other areas. You may work directly in a United Nations agency or be assigned to one of its partner organizations, a university or the government.
In return, you will be rewarded with an experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life. UN Youth Volunteers receive a basic living allowance that allows the volunteer to live healthily and safely in the assigned area. Baseline and end line assessments, with an end of project evaluation, will show the cost benefits of using a mobile outreach strategy to provide basic primary health care services to hard to reach communities. The project management and reporting will be embedded in the national and state polio Emergency Operations Centres. The Consultant will be a member of the state Emergency Operations Centre and work closely with partners in their respective States.
The Consultant is expected to travel up to about 15 days in a month to the clusters, settlements and health facilitates for the purposes of monitoring implementation of the project programme, supply and human resources.
